Pick a Topic

When you first start writing essays in school, it's not unusual to have a topic assigned to you. When selecting a subject for your essay, you will want to ensure your topic supports the type of paper you are expected to compose. If you're expected to produce a newspaper that is a general summary, then a general subject will suffice. But if you are expected to compose a specific analysis, then you're topic ought to be rather specific.

Once you've defined the purpose of your essay, it's time to emphasise. Do not pick only 1 topic from the bat. Take some time to think about, contrast and weight your choices. Get out a sheet of paper and produce a listing of all the different topics that match the purpose of your essay. Once they're all down on paper, start with eliminating those topics that are hard or not as important as others subjects. Also, get rid of these topics that are too challenging or that you are simply not that interested in. Pretty soon you will have whittled your list down to just a couple topics and then you can make a last option
